Great Basin National Park
This view shows a large mass of stalagmites that appear to have rotated. It could be argued that the mountain had been uplifted and rotated after the stalagmite formed, but it is probably more likely that a boulder that the originally formed on had simply shifted under the weight of the growing speleothems. Earthquakes to shake the region occasionally, but even strong earthquakes are rarely felt deep in the stable passage of a cavern.
