Mesa Verde National Park
Cliff Palace is perhaps the most famous ruin at Mesa Verde National Park. This view shows one of many ranger-led tours in progress. Cliff Palace is one of the massive masonry dwellings created by the during the Classic Period of the Anasazi Culture (between 1100 and 1300 A.D.; most of the cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde were built between about 1190 and 1275 A.D. (after the decline of the Anasazi cultural center at Chaco Canyon around 1130 A.D.).
