This view is looking south into the valley of Chicken Creek which runs through the heart of the National Monument. Fossil Butte is on the left. Active commercial fossil quarries dot the landscape along the ridges in the valley near the town of Fossil (outside of the national monument). Many important fossils and scientific discoveries have been made by commercial collectors in the region. |
