These rocks overly the massive cliff-forming Redwall Limestone. The Inner Gorge (or Granite Gorge as named by John Wesley Powell during his 1869 Expedition and as shown on the topographic map). Today, the name Inner Gorge is applied to in the lower part of the canyon, shown here in the upper right of the image. |
