| White prickly poppy (Argemone albiflora) bloom in abundance in the wetter bottomlands along the lower stream valleys and along the Rio Grande River in southern Big Bend National Park. The dryer rocky alluvial fan surfaces are dominated by creosote bush (Larrea divaricata or Larrea tridentata). The Mules Ears are a prominent set of eroded volcanic stocks of Tertiary age.
