This is a southeast facing view from Grandview Point in the Island In The Sky part of Canyonlands National Park. The White Rim Sandstone form the ledges around Monument Basin, a side canyon of the Colorado River gorge (the river is not visible; it is just beyond the ledge of the White Rim sandstone on the opposite side of the three-prong canyon om Monument Basin). The canyon country on the opposite side of the river is the Indian Creek basin region. The Needles Overlook mesa and the Abajo Mountains are in the distance.
