Cane Creek Anticline

This view along the Potash Road shows the gentle structure of the Cane Creek Anticline. Strata mostly siltstone and sandstones of the Cutler Group (Pennsylvanian to Permian) crop out along the Colorado River in this region. The gray strata in the mid ground is a fossiliferous marine shale bed of the Pennyslvanian Honaker Trail Formation. The red siltstone in the foreground is Elephant Canyon Formation (Permian). The La Sal Mountains are in the distance.
