Distant flat-lying layers of Wingate Sandstone are in contrast to the younger steeply-dipping, massive beds of
the Navajo Sandstone that line the west flank of Halls Creek Valley. In the foreground are boulders of Jurassic-age
conglomerate that form part of the ridge at Halls Creek Overlook on the east side of this valley in the southern
end of Capitol Reef National Park.
