Plants (mostly saltbush, grasses, and Russian thistle) grow around pits on the playa surface where ephemeral ponds trap moisture. In the distance Lake Hill (elevation 2,030) rises along the eastern shore of North Panamint Playa. The Dunes on north Panamint Valley are visible to the left of Lake Hill located on the southern flank of the Hunter Mountain.
