Rhyolite (ghost town), Nevada

Rhyolite is a ghost town that once served the community serving the Bullfrog Gold Mining District. Construction in the town site began in 1906 near one of the most promising mines, the Montgomery Shoshone mine. The town quickly grew to about 500 residents. A downturn in the economy in 1907 lead to the collapse in area mining investiments, and the community vanished by 1911. Rhyolite is located just off Highway 374 about 3 miles west of Beatty Nevada and about two miles east of the one-way Titus Canyon Road.
