This zoomed-in view from the hill above the Harmony Borax Works shows the Furnace Creek area and the Black Mountains along the east side of southern Death Valley. This view illustrates how tamarisk (an imported plant from the Mediterranean region) has spread throughout the stream channels on the Furnace Creek alluvial fan.
