This view is looking east from the original "Stovepipe Wells" toward the Grapevine Mountains. A rising fault-bounded horst of Tertiary sediments forms an erosion-dissected ridge across the alluvial fans draining westward from the southern Grapevine Mountains and adjacent Funeral Mountains.
