| The Little Colorado River Gorge is carved into the Marble Platform. The platform is an incised plateau capped by the Kaibab Limestone of Permian age. In the distance is a low mesa on the Marble Platform where a remnant of the Moenkopi Formation (consisting of sandstone, shale and mudstone of Lower Triassic age) crops out above Kaibab Limestone. |
