View of an offset curb at the southwest corner of Prospect Street and Rose Street north of downtown Hayward. The displacement of the curb is consistent with the relative right-lateral displacement of the Hayward Fault. A right-lateral displacement refers to the relative motion of the two sides of a strike-slip fault. Offset features along the Hayward Fault show that the west side moving northward relative to the east side of the fault.
