| This sidewalk displays right-lateral offset that is typical for the older structures built across the creeping Hayward Fault. Car keys are shown for scale. This sidewalk is on the north side of old City Hall in downtown Hayward. While walking around downtown Hayward, it is interesting to see evidence of past and present attempts to mediate damage to buildings and infrastructure caused by the creeping fault. Some buildings that had originally been constructed on the fault have been torn down and replaced with small open space parks. |
