San Leandro Courthouse after the 1868 earthquake
Historic photograph by Carleton Watkins showing the condition of the Alameda County Courthouse after the 1868 Hayward earthquake. One person was killed when the courthouse collapsed. Note that the building on the far left appeared to escape damage and still had its chimney. The old courthouse was located at the intersection of Davis and Clarke Streets.
