Cave in granite on Ryan Mountain
This cave formed by the gradual exfoliation-style weathering of granite bedrock over a long period of time. This cave is along the Ryan Mountain Trail. (Technically, a cave is an overhang that can form in any kind of rock. This is different from a cavern which is an underground passage formed by dissolution of bedrock or erosion by running water moving underground, usually in limestone).
