Petroglyphs and pictographs near Barker Reservoir
A small cave with a natural arch in the Barker Dam area displays many petroglyphs (images carved in rock) and pictographs (images painted with mineral paints). The symbols attributed to prehistoric Native Americans include bighorn sheep, snakes, trees, and other familiar images in rock-art panels elsewhere in the region. Some of the graphics have been modified. Note the rattlesnake in this image.
