| The Paul Wilhelm Grove is the largest part of the Thousand Palms Oasis in the Coachella Valley Preserve. It is located on the Mission Creek Fault strand of the San Andreas Fault in Thousand Palms Canyon. The preserve's visitor center is located in the Paul Wilhelm Grove and accessible from Thousand Palms Canyon Road. This view is looking east from near the visitor center parking area. Creosote bush dominates the dry alluvial fan areas whereas palms grow in areas where surface runnoff and shallow groundwater is available. |
