Unit Name History:
Named (Boutwell, 1907). Extended to Greater Green River basin (Schultz, 1914). Extended to Uinta basin; Divided into Grandeur and Franson Members (McKelvey and others, 1959). Revised (Schell and Yochelson, 1966; Cramer, 1971; Mytton and others, 1983). Age modified; Biostratigraphic dating (Behnken and others, 1986). Revised (Maughan, 1987).
