Rainbow Bridge National Monument
View looking south at Rainbow Bridge with Navajo Mountain in the distance. Rainbow Bridge is a large natural bridge that formed by weathering and erosion of the Navajo Sandstone. It is one of the largest natural bridges in the world. Navajo Mountain, in the distance, is a large dome formed by Oligocene-age igneous intrusions into early Mesozoic-age sedimentary formations of the Colorado Plateau (Chidsey and others, 2000).
